Perched on the Dodabetta Peak, this tea factory depicts the story of the origin and evolution of tea, especially in the Nilgiris. Its souvenir shop sells various types of processed teas.
This colonial Gothic-styled church, with a spectacular crucifixion tableau depicted on its stain-glass windows, is a marvel of art. One of the legends attached to the church goes that its heavy wooden beams were hauled on elephants backs all the way from Tipu Sultan’s palace in Bangalore.
Besides the regular cane & wood artifacts, Ooty is the place to buy organically grown fruits, locally produced cinnamon, and a range of teas & coffees from its many plantations.
Though Ooty’s pleasant climate makes it a year-round destination, the tourist season mainly runs from April to June in summers and from September to December in winters.
