Located in Belur, around 39kms from Hassan, this temple is dedicated to Chennakeshava, a form of Lord Vishnu. The temple artwork depicts scenes of life in the 12th century, figurines of dancers and musicians, and pictorial narration of Hindu religious texts, such as the Ramayana, the Mahabharata and the Puranas.
This 12th century Shiva Temple, built on the banks of a large manmade lake, is distinguished for its sculptures, exquisite reliefs, detailed friezes and intricate columns. Located in Halebid, around 32kms from Hassan, the illustrations & carvings of this temple offer a wide window into the life and culture of that era.
This 17m high monolith of the Jain figure, Bahubali, in Shravanbelagola, is one of the famous Jain pilgrimages in the area. Located around 50kms from Hassan, this 983 AD statue is one of the world’s largest free standing statues.

Hassan has an ambient climate throughout the year but winter season from October to March, when there is a slight nip in the air, is considered best for sightseeing in Hassan.
